WRITING THE SOUL
with Brad Wetzler

A Course in Self-Discovery through Writing

What does it mean to live a spiritual life?

What if you were already spiritual—but didn’t know it? What if the wisdom you’ve been searching for has been within you all along, waiting for you to listen?

Life moves fast—deadlines, distractions, the endless scroll. But beneath the noise, something steady remains. A voice that has always been there. Writing is a way to hear it again.

This course is for seekers, writers, and those who don’t yet have a name for what they’re searching for. If you’re at a crossroads, feeling untethered, or longing for a deeper connection to yourself, Writing the Soul will guide you.

Through guided journaling, storytelling, and reflection, you’ll slow down, uncover long-held truths, and reconnect with your inner wisdom. You’ll also develop a daily or weekly writing practice—a simple yet powerful way to stay connected to yourself, even after the course ends. You won’t be alone. You’ll be part of a community of fellow seekers and storytellers, supporting each other as you explore your experience.

By the end of this course, you won’t just have filled pages—you’ll have a sustainable writing practice, a deeper connection to yourself, and clarity about where you’ve been and where you’re going.

Your words are waiting. Let’s begin.

Course Overview

Join Brad Wetzler, author of Into the Soul of the World, along with a team of acclaimed guest teachers, for an eight-week journey into writing, reflection, and self-discovery.

Through weekly lessons, guided journaling, and group discussions, you’ll gain insight into yourself and your path. You’ll revisit the turning points in your life, find new meaning in your experiences, and learn how to put words to the things that feel hardest to say. Along the way, you will:

By the end of the course, you’ll have a deeper understanding of your story—and the tools to keep writing the next chapter with intention.

Start Your Journey

  • Strengthen your connection to your inner wisdom
  • Identify key turning points in your life and what they mean for you now
  • Develop a daily or weekly writing practice to stay connected to yourself long after the course ends
  • Lay the foundation for your memoir, nonfiction book, or personal writing project (if you’re a writer)
  • Create a SoulMap—a personal guide to integrate your insights and move forward with confidence
  • Connect with a supportive community—writers, seekers, and fellow travelers who are on this journey with you

Create Your Own SoulMap

Your SoulMap is more than a collection of notes—it’s a guidebook you write for yourself. A personal record of the insights, decisions, and practices that will support you long after the course ends. It will help you:

  • Bring insights into daily life by identifying key themes, setting intentions, and creating simple reflection rituals
  • Define practices that keep you grounded—whether it’s journaling, meditation, movement, or time in nature
  • Map your next steps with clarity by setting goals, anticipating challenges, and developing a personalized action plan

Your soul already knows the way. Now, you have a map to follow.

What You’ll Experience:

This course is a guided journey into self-discovery through writing. Each week, you’ll explore different aspects of your inner life, learning to use writing as a tool for clarity, self-reflection, and deeper understanding. With guidance from expert teachers, you’ll develop a writing practice that helps you make sense of your experiences and move forward with greater confidence and insight.

Week 1: Writing as a Path to Self-Discovery
Led by Brad Wetzler, Author and Teacher

For years, I wandered in search of answers—tracing ancient paths, learning from revered spiritual teachers, and exploring sacred spaces—only to realize that the truth was always within me. We begin by asking: What does it mean to live a meaningful life? In this foundational session, we’ll explore how writing can help us slow down, tune in, and connect with our deeper selves. Through guided journaling, reflection, and discussion, you’ll start building a writing practice that helps you make sense of where you’ve been and where you want to go.

Week 2: Unearthing the Hidden Soul: Getting Honest with Yourself
Guest Teacher: Adam Guzman-Poole, Existential Therapist and Teacher

Building on your newfound inner awareness, we now delve into the layers beneath the surface. Self-discovery starts with honesty. This week, we’ll explore how fear, doubt, and past experiences shape our inner stories. Using simple meditation techniques and reflective writing exercises, you’ll learn how to recognize and rewrite limiting beliefs, gaining more clarity about who you are and what truly matters to you.

Week 3: Embodying the Soul: Learning to Listen to Your Body
Guest Teacher: Melissa Walker, Somatic Sex Therapist

As you begin to recognize the inner layers of your being, it’s time to bring that awareness into your body. Your body holds valuable insight about your emotions, experiences, and memories. This session introduces movement-based writing and breathwork to help you tap into your body’s wisdom. You’ll learn how to use writing to process emotions and build a stronger connection between your mind, body, and soul.

Week 4: The Soul in the Wild: Nature as Mirror and Guide.
Guest Teacher: Michelle Dowd, Author

This week, we turn to the natural world as a mirror for self-reflection. Nature’s cycles—growth, change, stillness—can help us see our own lives more clearly. Under Michelle Dowd’s guidance, you’ll explore place-based writing, seasonal reflections, and mindful observation, learning how the rhythms of nature can bring insight and perspective to your personal journey.

Week 5: The Soul’s Symbols – Recognizing the Patterns That Shape Us
Guest Teacher: Radha Marcum, Poet

We all have repeating themes in our lives—certain challenges, habits, or dreams that keep resurfacing. This session helps you identify symbols and patterns in your personal story and explore what they mean. Through creative writing exercises, you’ll begin to connect the dots between past experiences and your current path forward.

Week 6: Writing the Soul’s Fire – Transforming Pain into Meaning.
Guest Teacher: Emily Rapp Black, Author

Having uncovered both personal symbols and hidden truths, you now face the transformative power of pain. Difficult experiences shape us, but they don’t have to define us. This week, we’ll explore how writing can help us process loss, change, and uncertainty. You’ll learn how to tell your story with honesty and self-compassion, turning pain into insight and personal growth.

Week 7: The Archetypal Soul – Awakening Inner Energies
Guest Teacher: Scott Youmans, Interfaith Minister, Writer, Teacher

This week, we’ll explore four key archetypes—universal patterns that shape how we see ourselves and navigate life. Through guided writing exercises and reflection, you’ll uncover how these patterns show up in your own experiences, influencing your choices, strengths, and challenges. Recognizing them can help you gain clarity, tap into your authentic voice, and better understand your personal story.

Week 8: Living the Soul’s Story: Moving Forward with Clarity and Grace
Led by: Brad Wetzler

Your journey doesn’t end here—it’s just beginning. This week, we’ll reflect on everything you’ve discovered and focus on how to continue your writing practice beyond the course. Together, we’ll complete your SoulMap, bringing together your key insights and personal discoveries. You’ll refine your reflections and create a plan for using journaling as a tool for continued self-discovery and growth. By session's end, you’ll have a SoulMap that serves as a personal guide—helping you stay connected to yourself and your evolving story long after the course ends.
